The Mariners’ United Society of Tourism and Organization of Hospitality Management Students accomplished their first collaboration for this academic year 2023-2024 as they spearheaded the TM & HM Week entitled Student-Centric Horizon: OHMS and MUST’s Groundbreaking Partnerships which started on October 02, 2023, until yesterday, October 04, 2023. It was participated by the students of Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM), and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) students exhibiting their exceptional skills and talents in different competitions that were conducted.
The TM and HM Week kickoffs around 10:00 am with the on-site registration followed by the opening program hosted by Dhaina Castroverde wherein Mr. Joemar Asoro, the BSHM Program Chair and OHMS Adviser, delivered his warming remarks. Mary France Magtibay and Albert Hammiah Abac also gave their message to encourage students to join the competitions they prepared and they ended it by officially welcoming the start of the competitions conducted for the whole 3-day event.
The first-day event competitions began with the Worldly Wonders (Quiz Bee) participated by both BSTM and BSHM students inside the Library followed by the Tour Guiding Competition, a contest exclusively for TM students, at the same place, and Cake Decoration for HM students. Further, the Brochure Making and 3D Travel Poster Making Contest was also organized, however, the submission of output was through online on or before the given deadline.
During the second day of TM and HM Week, at exactly 1:00 pm, MUST organized the Inflight Safety Announcement Contest in the Library succeeded by the Tour Package Proposal in the Library, and the Tourist Destination Article Writing Contest in Speech Lab. Meanwhile, OHMS conducted their Bathroom Amenities Set Up Competition and Table Set-Up with Skirting and Napkin Folding at Mariners’ Tourism and Hotel Institute (MTHI) simultaneously.
On the last day of the event, the competition was composed of Family Feud that was held at Jaime’s Hall with the combined participants of BSTM and BSHM students and Pinoy Henyo participated by the TM and HM students at the stage. After the competition, a closing program was carried out to assemble the students of the mentioned programs, award the winners, and give appreciation to the judges for each competition accomplished throughout the whole event.
